Branded a WitchdoctorByThe Seed CompanyTaggedBible Translation Stories from the Field 0 commentsAdd commentAbout 99% of the Digo people are followers of a major world religion. But this is mixed with their traditional animistic beliefs and witch doctors are still active. The Lord is slowly calling more Digo to Himself. Recently, a widow was among a group of Digo Christians who declared their faith in Christ through baptism. She said that the moment she declared that she had accepted Jesus into her life, her whole family turned against her. Seeing the successes that God had brought into her life, family members branded her a witchdoctor. However, she recognized that this was merely an attempt to justify their persecution of her. She remained steadfast and wouldn’t disown Christ though the family broke off all contact.

Having read in the Digo Scriptures that she should love her enemies, this lady loved her family and cried out to God for reconciliation with them. When one of her sisters was critically injured, the lady visited her in the hospital and prayed for her quick recovery. God used this as a turning point for the whole family. When this woman was healed and saw how her Christian sister loved and prayed for her, she became reconciled with her. Later the sister and their mother also chose the Christian path.
2008 Year End Praises!ByThe Seed CompanyTaggedAnswers to Prayer Bible Translation Partners 0 commentsAdd commentWith all the insecurity in the news around us, it’s encouraging to see how God is using The Seed Company to bring His Word to so many. He graciously invites us to be used to touch the lives of unreached people. We humbly serve in this mission and celebrate the impact of God’s Word. Highlights from our praises in 2008 are listed below.
  • We celebrate the start of Bible translation in partnership with others in 68 languages in 2008 (compared to 18 languages the prior year) – that represents a Bible translation start almost every 5 days in 2008, bringing the total number of languages impacted to over 500.
  • Because of Bible translation efforts going on right now through The Seed Company, in the months and years ahead, an estimated 415 million people will have God’s Word in their heart language for the first time.
  • We are thankful for the sacrificial giving of our investors, who are key partners in helping us accomplish the mission God has called us to. In 2008, investors contributed almost $10 million to The Seed Company Bible translation efforts – that represents 29% growth over the previous year.
